Know Your Girl

Forget the “perfect engagement ring” for a minute. Think about her. Is her jewellery understated or does she like to make a statement? Does she wear yellow gold every day? Is she drawn to colour? Classic shapes? Something a little unexpected? The things she already loves are your best clues. Bring photos. Save screenshots. Have a look at the jewellery she wears most. You can even ask her friends, they’ve probably been waiting for this moment. Don’t worry. We’ll help you choose a ring that feels like her, from the shape of the stone to the colour of the gold and all the little details in between.

The Devil's In The Details

The stone gets a lot of attention. Fair enough, it’s usually the sparkly bit. But the shape, setting, gold colour and proportions are just as important in creating the right ring. Choose from yellow, rose, champagne or white gold and explore different diamond shapes and gemstones. From a timeless solitaire to something more distinctive, we’ll look at what suits her style and what will feel good on her hand every day. And if you already have something specific in mind, bring it along. Pinterest, screenshots, secret notes – all welcome.

The Practical Bit

Planning a surprise? We’ve got you. Because nothing kills a romantic proposal quite like a ring that doesn’t fit. The best trick? Borrow a ring. Find one she wears on the ring finger of the hand where she’ll wear her engagement ring. Make sure it fits that finger well (not a ring she wears on another finger). Bring it to us and we can measure it. Can’t sneak one away without raising suspicion? Measure its inner diameter with a caliper (gold standard) or a ruler (close enough, but slightly less precise). For the full how-to, click here. And remember: fingers can differ between hands and even change size with temperature. So if the measurement isn’t perfect, don’t panic. We’ll help you figure it out. When should you start, you ask? Excellent question! Your ring is made to order in the atelier, so give us some time to make it properly. Ideally, get in touch at least 2–3 months before you plan to propose. Already planning to propose sooner? Come talk to us. We’ll see what we can do.
